Edinburgh BioQuarter Site Visitor Map
Initially commissioned by Ironside Farrar in 2018, Jason was tasked with designing and producing a wayfinding map for the Edinburgh BioQuarter (EBQ), a novel mixed-use urban neighbourhood situated in Edinburgh. The EBQ is a hub for health innovation, a world-renowned community of health-related innovators and companies. In addition to the map, Jason provided comprehensive design input to the sign family for the site.
To enhance the visitor’s understanding of the site, a 3D model of the EBQ was created to complement the map. This was integrated into the orientation boards, providing a broader site context and additional wayfinding cues. These cues were implemented in a heads-up format for both the map and 3D model to ensure optimal visibility and legibility. Given the involvement of multiple stakeholders, the design was required to accommodate and reflect, through a unique visual identity, all stakeholders. Jason continues to provide updates and enhancements to this project.
